Blog #1 (Chapter 1, Module 1)
What health issues you are most concerned about? Why? Interview 2-3 women (different ages, ethnicities and/or cultures if possible) and ask them the same question. You may provide pseudo names to protect their identity. How are your concerns similar or different? Explain.
Heath issues that most concern me are breast cancer and obesity. There are too many women today who have had breast cancer and one of them who is close to me is my fiancee’s mother. She’s like my other mother and she went through the process and pain of having it. Obesity is another one because there are a good majority of people who are overweight and even children.
I talked to my future mother in law and she said a big issue was also breast cancer for women. It’s not something to be taken likely. She said she was afraid if something happened to her she would be more concerned about her husband trying to survive without her. It is really scary to even consider losing someone dear to breast cancer.
My sister agreed with my on obesity and she also mention asima becase she has it. She also has a child and our father died of an asima attack so she was concerned about having asima attacks and not having her medicine. It is terrifying to think about someone that you care about and love being taken away from things that can or cannot be fixed.
Kristina,
ReplyDeleteYour concern about women's health is similar too. My concern about health is nutrition, because in my nursing classes, when we've learned about patient disease process, I've learned that the first thing patients lose once they were hopsitalized are their nutrient, and they'll become weak. Kerry Paige Nesseler from Health Resources and Service Administration came to our campus last semester as guess speaker, and she talked about childhood obesity. According to Ms. Nesseler 1/3 of the children who borned after 2000 will most likely suffer from obesity, diabetes, and other chronic disease. Therefore, I agree with you that obesity is on the rise.
